Selection of the proper type of fume hood to use in a laboratory should be based upon two interrelated considerations:
1:The hood must allow the user to perform the work in a safe, efficient manner.
2. The need to reduce air conditioning cost.
The interior of the fume hood resists the corrosive effects of chemicals. The hood under structure should provide for storage of the required chemicals for the work being done in the hood. The total cost of a hood is greatly affected by its exhaust air requirements. The annual cost of heating and cooling the air exhausted by the hood can be as high as the initial cost of the hood itself.
Choosing the proper hood type and sash configuration can significantly reduce these costs.
High Performance Fume Hoods
High-Performance/Low-Flow Fume Hoods
Compared to most traditional fume hoods, these high performance, low flow hoods are safer, have lower installation costs, and are up to 50% less expensive in operating costs. We have designed and installed fume hoods in labs around the world.
Save Green with Environmentally-Conscious Fume Hood Models
High performance fume hoods has a series of design features to provide unsurpassed containment and operator protection:
1:Engineered baffle system provides proper air distribution
2:Constant air velocity (variable air volume) reduces energy use relative to sash position
3:Rounded corners at hood entrance reduce turbulence, improving efficiency
4:Aerodynamic sash pull
5:Containment trough with directional vanes and white Plascote finish adds durability and chemical resistance
6:Cord pass-through lets sash fully close without appliance cords getting in the way
7:Lower entrance safety bar provides a personal safety barrier 880mm high viewing area
8:White ResChem interior with vapor-proof fluorescent light.
9:458mm vertical opening with keyed sash stop to access 685mm set-up position
10:Double-wall construction for installation of plumbing and electrical service fixtures.Advantages of High Performance Chemical Fume Hoods:
1:Engineered to exhaust 50% less conditioned air from the laboratory
2:Designed to capture fumes while working in today's modern laboratories with varying factors such as lab traffic, fluctuating temperatures and interior hood loading
3:Fume capture and containment can be demonstrated with tracer gas testing
5:Standard, available for all new chemical fume hood installations
6:Quiet operation
7:Low airflow provides an ideal environment for working with powders and delicate work.
Low-flow/high-performance hoods use substantially less energy to operate over the lifetime of the fume hood exhaust system.
